Golf Games For Duffers
Golf is better with a little friendly competition. Whether you're a scratch golfer or a proud card-carrying duffer, these games are guaranteed to add laughs, friendly trash talk, and maybe a little friendly wager to your next 18. Each week we feature a classic (or not-so-classic) golf game to spice up your round.
⛳
Draw The Club
A chaotic golf game where you don’t choose your club—the group (or pure luck) does. Perfect for breaking routine, testing creativity, and exposing just how bad your “versatility” really is.
Full Rules & Game Details
Overview:
Draw the Club flips normal golf on its head. Instead of carefully selecting the “right” club for each shot, players are randomly assigned one. Whether you’re hitting a driver from 120 yards or putting with a 5-iron, the goal is simple: adapt, laugh, and survive.
How It Works:
Before each shot (or on selected shots), the player must randomly draw a club
This can be done by:
Pulling a club name from a hat
Using a randomizer app
Having another player choose blindly from your bag
The player must use that club for the shot—no switching
When to Use It (Choose Your Style):
Tee Shots Only:
Keeps the chaos controlled while still mixing things up
Approach Shots Only:
Turns scoring shots into absolute guesswork
Full Chaos Mode:
Every shot (except putts, if you want mercy) is randomized
Par 3 Challenge:
Only use Draw the Club on par 3s for quick bursts of fun
Important Rules:
You must use the drawn club—no redraws unless there’s a safety issue
One swing per draw: No “practice swings” that magically turn into retries
Putting Rule (optional):
Either always allow a putter
OR force players to putt with whatever they draw (recommended for laughs)
Safety first:
If a club is genuinely dangerous for the situation (e.g., driver in a bunker), allow a redraw

Stroke Limit
No bogeys. No mercy. No extra swings. Stroke Limit is a fast-paced points game where every hole has a hard cutoff — and when your strokes run out, so does your chance at points.
Stroke Limit is a points-based golf game with one unbreakable rule: you never take more strokes than the par for the hole. No bogeys. No doubles. No mulligans. When your strokes are up, play is dead — whether you're in the hole, on the green, or still hunting for your ball in the rough.
How It Works: Play follows standard stroke rules — OB, drops, and penalty strokes all count. The difference is what happens when you reach par for the hole:
Result at stroke limit Points
Eagle (2 under par) +3
Birdie (1 under par) +2
Par (holed at the par limit) +1
On the green, not holed -1
Not on the green -2
Play 9 or 18 holes. Most points wins.
The Brutal Reality: Penalty strokes don't just hurt your score — they steal your remaining swings. Hit your drive OB on a par 3? You're hitting 3 off the tee with one shot left. Hole it for a point. Miss the green and you're walking away losing 2 points. No second chances.
Handicap Option: Want to level the playing field? Better golfers play with double penalties — -2 if on the green but not holed, -4 if not on the green. Suddenly that scratch golfer isn't so smug.
Why You'll Love It
⚡ Fast play — no one ever shoots more than par for the course. Perfect for busy courses!
🎯 Every shot matters from the first tee
😬 Penalty strokes are devastating — exactly as they should be
🏆 Easy to score — just track points per hole
This is a great game to play on busy courses. High handicappers can play without having to worry about falling behind. Nobody ever shoots more than par for the course.
